One of the biggest threats that we face every single day and constantly comes from inside ourselves. And that’s called stress. I was just reading an article by Clemson University that was saying that roughly 90% of all diseases and they’re talking about all diseases are stress-related.
How stressed are you?
We live in a really fast-paced world where especially in American culture, we want things done yesterday and we’re a lot of the time focused on things that have happened before that we can’t do anything about, or we’re focused on things that haven’t happened yet, that may never happen and we’re stressed. So, these can take the forms of
- Not sleeping well
- Not eating well
- Not taking breaks during the middle of your day.
To remind yourself how amazing it is that you’re alive, one thing that I like to do is I have an alarm.
I have a timer on my phone set for every two hours. So no matter what I’m doing, when that timer goes off, I sit back, take a nice couple of big, deep breaths, just to remind myself what a gift it is that I got to wake up this morning. I get another one of these days. I get to have this amazing vessel to travel through the world.
And I give thanks:
- For my gratitude
- For my health
- For my wonderful family
- For an amazing business
- For all these awesome people that I get to work with
- That I get to help so many people in a way that most people could never dream of
No matter how stressful your day is, take that time, set an alarm, no excuses. You have a phone it has an alarm. All you have to do is set it. However long it is for you, go back to being conscious instead of just going through your day.
If you set a reminder, you’re going to follow it. If you follow it, you’re going to feel it. If you feel it, you’re going to lower your stress. Your stress can move very well, lengthen your life.
