What is it like to be tenacious?

I feel as if I was born that way. Two of the greatest role models that I’ve ever had in my life, two of the supermen that I looked up to, were my father and my grandpa. They each had individual nicknames for me. One of them was The Rhino and the other was The Bulldozer because even as a very young child, I was super stubborn and thickheaded. I would never accept ‘no’ as an answer. If I had some type of obstacle, I would not find another way. I wouldn’t go under, around, or over. I would just bust through it and no matter what, if I said I wanted something, I would always go after it.

That tenacity has come in handy as we’ve gone through this mission of bringing Vibravision® into the world because it has not been easy. It has been absolutely the greatest adventure I could ever imagine with so many pitfalls, so many traps so to speak. As I’ve gone through and reflected on my life I’ve wondered things like:

Where did that come from? How come we never give up? How can we keep going no matter what? How come we can’t say no? Do we just have to keep going?

Our life is kind of an ongoing process. Like a river, it’s running and it’s flowing and it’s always moving.

I remember as a young man getting in trouble for not doing my chores and getting yelled at.  I recall times going to go feed the horses, and as I walked out to the hay barn, which was about 150 yards from the house, all the horses started following me because they’re hungry and I was supposed to be out there to feed them two hours earlier.

I would become angry with my parents for being mean to me and saying things like “Hey, you’re not doing your stuff. Get out there right now. Go!”
But they were giving me the discipline that comes from learning our own personal responsibility. I remember feeling so angry with them but, then instantly having it flip around and realizing that this was training.

Right now, I’m training for the rest of the things that I’m going to do in my life.

I believe that people are all stars and we deserve to shine, but not everybody gets the same lessons that I got and I’m so grateful to my parents for being hard on me because I know how stubborn and challenging I can be sometimes and for them to put me into that situation where I literally had the self-reflection of understanding that this was the easy part.

What I am going to do in the rest of my life is going to be way more challenging than this.

This is training. We’re preparing, I realized that I was preparing for what was coming next, and if I couldn’t do this, how was I ever going to do that stuff? This is in direct opposition, to find our peace in the now, but at the same time, it’s such an amazing reflection for when we’re going through hard times, and to remind us of how to pick ourselves up and keep going. And when we’re in good times, how to truly relax and enjoy and be in the moment. To enjoy the fruits of our labors.

Thank you for allowing me to share this story with you. I just want to always remind you that life is amazing and it’s always training for what’s coming next. You have a great future. You are a shooting star. Go burn bright.

Right now you’re training to go burn even brighter.
